Josh arrived in the courtroom escorted by two tall M.P.s and sat down beside Sims who was riffling through some papers, but then took the time to subtly run his hand up Josh's thigh under the table. Josh looked across at the infamous Major Nickles, a barrel chested gruff man of around forty-five, who everyone in the corps knew had been forced to engage in hand-to-hand combat on more occasions in war than anyone cared to remember. He had the look of a stone-cold killer, thought Josh, yet Josh couldn't deny there was something deeply thrilling about the man, and the way he was carrying himself that day.

The court grew silent as the judge entered, sat down, and began the proceedings with the usual formalities. Major Nickles made his opening statement to the military jury, accusing Josh of treason and telling them in no uncertain terms, that no matter what evidence the defense presented, that Josh was surely guilty. Sims was next, painting Josh as a misunderstood hero with no knowledge of any possible misdeeds on his part. Both seemed convincing thought Josh, as he sat there holding the gaze of each juror as they looked over at him.

Major Nickles was the first to call a witness to give evidence, and amazingly, in through the double wooden doors walked Corporal Rawling. Josh was astounded, and officer Sims objected as Rawling hadn't been given on the list of witnesses that would be brought to the trail. The judge overruled, much to Sims consternation, when Nickles defended himself,

“Your honor, we had no time to put this witness on the list as his testimony only came to light late last night.”

Rawling took the stand as Josh looked daggers at him. But Rawling didn't look at Josh. Nickels asked Rawling if he was familiar with Josh's sexual exploits with the aliens, and Rawling confirmed that he was. Nickles showed the jury that Rawling was a credible witness by referring to his relationship with josh and his years in the Marine core. Then Nickles continued with his gambit by asking Rawling if Josh had ever told him of any telepathic communication with the aliens.

“Yes, he did. He said that when one inserted his dick in Josh's anal passage, Josh felt a mind transfer of information that he found pleasurable.”

Nickles looked at the jury for effect and then back at Rawling,

“So, you mean, he did not resist any transfer of information, and in fact found it enjoyable?” Asked Nickles, adding a punctuation mark to what Rawling had already said,

“I got that impression, yes.” Rawling replied.

Suddenly, Josh could contain himself no longer, and in an outburst that would be sure to cost him, stood up and shouted at Rawling,

“You fucking son of a bitch!”

The judge pounded his gavel onto the sounding block as the court disrupted into disorder and the judge shouted at Josh,

“Private Devlin, you will restrain yourself, or I will have the M.P.s do it for you, and hold you in contempt of this court.”
